Lady Gaga wears this absolutely stunning Louis Vuitton embroidered cape over an embellished jacquard crop top, in a photo shoot for Dec 2019’s edition of Elle Magazine. In this story, Gaga speaks to Oprah in extreme detail about mental health and her career.
This top debuted as look #45 in the LV Resort 2020 show which took place at JFK’S new TWA Hotel on May 8th 2019.
Louis Vuitton was the first to stage an event at the restored building before it opened to the public. “The TWA Flight Center, a sheer evocation of travel itself, is inherently linked to Louis Vuitton’s commitment to exclusive architectural discoveries, to its art of travel, and represents an ideal close to Nicolas Ghesquière’s inspirations,” the brand said in a statement.
The show featured aviator style capes, dramatic shoulder pads and black gloves which evoked ghosts of past travel. This stunning cape piece features neo-embroidery with the Art-Deco inspired LV Buildings motif. Lous Vuitton describes it as “futuristic wings, inspired by architecture of the Cruise 2020 show’s TWA Flight Center location. The padded wings are crafted from satin, hand-embroidered with rhinestone chains and applied sequins. The cape-which closes with fabric ties at the front is held in place by armbands in elasticated grosgrain.” It is crafted from 100% silk and sells for $12,300.00.
This look was chosen for Lady Gaga by her longtime stylists Tom Eerebout and Sandra Amador. I especially love how the top evokes a resting butterfly, and compliments the Haus Labs makeup, by Sarah Nicole Tanno so beautifully.
The crop top beneath the cape features an Art Deco design as jacquard weave in lurex fabric, creating a patchwork effect. Bonded sequin tubes add volume and texture to the hem and high collar. There is a full zipper closure at the back. It was paired with blue jeans for the photo shoot. This piece sells of for $2,550.00.
This look was paired with an 18k white gold “The Claw” handpiece by Yeprem ($17,200.00) and a Yeprem 18k white gold round and marquise diamond ring which Lady Gaga previously wore for an Allure Oct 2019 photo shoot. ($14,300.00.)
